Spring Open House

Country Lane Treasures is having an open house this Saturday.
I've been busy preparing the store. There is alot of new products
that I'm excited about. Here's a small sample of the goodies.

Lantern with a glass insert topped with a birdy.

Glass votive holder, fill the jar with seasonal goodies.

I Love Shutters

You would think that if I love shutters that we would have some on our house.
Guess what I don't! I have some in our barn at the moment that would fit
on the big window at the front of our house. Hmmm....I think I'll check it out today.
I also like the look of shutters in unconventional ways, such as framing a
mirror or as a shelf. Here's some fun ways to use shutters.
When I've decided what I'm going to do with mine I will post pics.

Cut out stars on the shutter add interest, you could also hang tin stars from the shutters.

Cover up a bookshelf with shutters.

Very rustic but love it.

Add hooks to the shelf makes it multifunctional.

Add a shelf on top of the shutter.

A pretty headboard for a little girl's room.

Cover up what sometimes is a messie message center with shutters.

Chalkboard paint.

I've been wanting to make my own chalkboards using old frames for awhile now.
I went to Canadian Tire and found sprayon Chalkboard paint and
am going to give it a try. So far I've refinished a frame, now I have to
cut a piece of plywood to fit the frame and then spray it.
Below are a few inspiring pictures of chalkboards.

This is the frame that I will be using to do my first chalkboard before I refinished it.

Here's the paint I bought.
This has a fancy frame. Someone on another blog said they sprayed right over an old painting.
They first primed the painting before putting on the chalkboard paint.

This is a little much for my taste but I like to tweak ideas to make them my own.
I like the little shelf with the knobs below that. A very multifunctional piece!!

Can you imagine doing a whole wall??? Not sure about this one.

Spring!!

Yeah, spring is here.
Not officially but the weather sure says it.
I got some great magazines in the mail today that
totally were springy. I've been working on a few
furniture pieces. I'll give you a sneak peek.

Wow, I can't believe it's been this long!!!

I haven't posted for so long!!
I've been taking it a little easy since Christmas.
Just needed a break for awhile.
With the sun shining and new adventures around the corner
I am inspired again.
A new Adventure you wonder??
I've opened a booth in an antique mall.
It's located at the 400 Antique Mall located just off the Hwy. 89 exit.
I am still in the process of setting up right now but will
post pictures soon.
I've got some furniture pieces that I'm working on.

Furniture

Below are a few pieces of furniture that are in the store at the moment.
We have some items waiting for some tenderloving care that I will post befores and after pictures of as soon as we get them looked after.

A nice dresser which will make a great addition to a bedroom.

This antique mantel has been refinished in a neutral beige. A simple yet elegant piece.

This table would make a great sofa table or hall table. It s a Singer sewing
base with a pine top.

Merry Christmas

Wow, what a season! I sold 3 pieces of furniture last week. The store looks really empty now.
I look forward to stocking it with new product. We have a few pieces of furniture to finish up.
Here is a picture of the bench that my hubby and I redid.
The chair shows how the bench looked before. I love it. I hope that I will be able to do more projects such as this.
